PFA discards 3,500 litres adulterated milk

RAWALPINDI, Jun 20 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi discarded some 3,500 litres of adulterated and unhygienic milk on early Friday morning.
PFA teams checked vehicles carrying milk at the entry points of the Rawalpindi city and tested about 116,000 litres of milk, 3,500 litres was found substandard and contaminated, which destroyed on the spot, a PFA news release said.
A total fine of Rs 215,000 was imposed on the drivers of the vehicles carrying substandard milk, it added.
Meanwhile, the PFA continued its drive against bakers and food outlets violating food safety regulations.
Sweets and bakers production units and a known food outlet were fined Rs 100,000 for unhygienic cleanliness arrangements and not abiding laws.
The PFA urged the public to lodge their complaints, if any, regarding food, bakery items or milk at 1223.
