Election campaign gaining momentum: Candidates start receiving nomination papers

ISLAMABAD, Jun 4 (APP):The election campaigns are gaining momentum as the candidates have started getting nomination papers for three National Assembly seats of the federal Capital.
The Returning Officers (ROs) have started giving the nomination papers today to the contestants belong to different political parties besides independent candidates.
The interesting candidates on Monday received nomination papers from Islamabad including Haji Muhammad Afzal Khokhar from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) who received nomination papers from Returning Officer for NA-52 while representatives of Pakistan Tahreek- e- Insaf (PTI) Asad Umer received nomination paper from Returning Officer for NA-54.
Similarly, Memona Khan obtained nomination paper for NA-24 on the behalf of Pakistan Tahreek-e Insaf Gulalai’s Chairperson Ayesha Gulalai, while the representatives of Jamaat -e- Islami (JI) received nomination paper for Mian Muhammad Aslam for NA-54.
Raja Imran Ashraf from PPP got nomination paper for NA-54 while Advocate Nosheen Kharal from Justice and Democratic Party received nomination paper for NA-54.
Ammar Rasheed from Awami Workers Party received nomination paper for NA-54 while an independent candidate Ajmal Baloch got the nomination paper for the same.
Candidates across the country from different political parties are rushing towards the commission for timely receiving and filing of nomination papers so that they could chalk out some strategy in serenity after getting a green signal from the election watchdogs.
In the same vein, the folks associated with the different parties have started motivating the public by initiating election related activities at ground level in order to fetch support of public in their respective party’s favour.
“I expect all political parties to follow the code of conduct issued by the ECP with the consensus of all political parties to ensure smooth holding of general election and maintaining peace,” Nasir Majeed advocate said.
He said that the commission has an important role to play in holding free and fair election so the commission must be adhere to true spirit of constitution of Pakistan and follow the relevant laws.
