HYDERABAD, Jun 20 (APP):In a significant move to expand higher education opportunities in upper Sindh, the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam has initiated formal groundwork for establishing a new campus in District Ghotki.
A high-level delegation from the university visited Mirpur Mathelo, conducting a comprehensive assessment of the Circuit House building as a potential site for the campus’s interim operations.
The SAU spokesperson Gulsher Lochi informed that the visit was undertaken under the directives of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, as part of SAU’s vision to spread agricultural education and research across the province. The delegation was led by Dean of the Faculty of Crop Production Prof. Dr. Inayatullah Rajper and included Director Planning & Development Muhammad Ashraf Rustamani, Project Engineer (Civil) Ahsan Channa, Deputy Director Planning Nusrat Hussain Chandio and Riaz Shaikh.
This initiative follows the personal interest and public announcement by Sindh’s Minister for Agriculture, Anti-Corruption and Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, after which the university’s Vice Chancellor was tasked with preparing a PC-I and overseeing planning activities for the new campus.
Following a productive meeting with Deputy Commissioner Ghotki Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali, the team visited the proposed site and evaluated its infrastructure, academic feasibility, student facilities, transport accessibility and nearby land for research and experimental farming.
On this occasion, recommendations were made for the temporary commencement of teaching and research activities until the new campus is completed.
Speaking to the media, Prof. Dr. Inayatullah Rajper underscored the strategic value of this development; He added that “With the committed support of the provincial minister and the visionary leadership of our Vice Chancellor, we have found the Circuit House building suitable for immediate teaching and research activities. We are aiming to commence classes at the earliest to provide quality education to the youth of Ghotki and surrounding areas.”
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali welcomed the development, calling it a transformational milestone for the district and expressed that “The establishment of an SAU campus in Mirpur Mathelo is a game-changer. It will open doors for students not only from Ghotki but also neighboring districts. The district administration will extend full support to ensure the success of this initiative.”
