ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP):Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Babar Yaqoob on Thursday announcing the schedule of general elections-2018, said that the polls will be held on July 25.
Addressing a press conference, the secretary ECP said that the schedule of general elections was under the law and constitution of Pakistan. He said that the schedule will also apply to seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
He said that the Returning Officer will issue public notice on July 1st, 2018 while the date of filing of nomination papers with the Returning Officer by the candidates will be between July 2 to July 6.
He said that the date of publication of names of the nominated candidates will be July 7 while the last date for scrutiny of nomination papers by the Returning Officer will be July 14.
The secretary said that the last date for filing of appeals against decisions of the Returning Officer rejecting or accepting the nomination papers will be July 19 while the last date for deciding of appeals by the Appellate Tribunal will be July 26.
He said that the date of publication of revised list of candidates will be July 27 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature and publication of revised list of candidates will be July 28. The date for allotment of election symbol to contesting candidates will be July 25.
