ISLAMABAD, Jun 16 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon chaired a weekly performance review meeting on Monday, assessing the work of assistant commissioners, magistrates, and other officials.
The meeting focused on price control, anti-encroachment drives, and action against unlicensed indoor cafes, while also evaluating citizen complaint handling and environmental measures, said a press release.
The session was attended by assistant commissioners, magistrates, and other officials from the district administration. The agenda revolved around the ongoing administrative operations across the federal capital.
The deputy commissioner received detailed briefings on various field operations, including market inspections for price control and the removal of encroachments. He stressed the need to ensure daily action in these areas to maintain order in public spaces and ensure fair pricing.
During the meeting, authorities also presented updates on operations against unauthorized indoor cafes offering sheesha. Officials were directed to continue action against such establishments without interruption, as they operate without legal permission and violate public health guidelines.
The meeting also reviewed efforts under the anti-begging campaign. Teams working in the field shared progress on identifying and removing individuals involved in organized street begging, particularly around markets and traffic signals.
Environmental concerns were also part of the review meeting. Officials gave updates on measures against vehicles emitting excessive smoke.
Irfan Nawaz Memon stressed the importance of keeping pollution in check and asked for close coordination with the Islamabad Transport Authority to maintain regular inspections.
Wall chalking across the city was another focus area. Teams briefed the deputy commissioner on their work to clean up and prevent unauthorized writings and advertisements on public and private walls. the deputy commissioner directed that enforcement continue without exception to maintain the city’s visual order.
A key part of the session was the assessment of the district administration’s open-door policy. Irfan Memon emphasised that officers must meet visitors daily, listen to their complaints, and resolve them promptly. He said every citizen visiting a government office should be heard and their issues addressed without delay.
In particular, the DC asked for detailed records of public complaints and the time taken to resolve each matter. He said the accountability in citizen service delivery would remain a top priority for the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration.
Emphasizing the need for consistency, the deputy commissioner instructed that daily inspections must be carried out across markets to enforce government-fixed price lists and restrict the use of plastic shopping bags. He asked assistant commissioners to ensure full implementation of the ban on plastic bags and take action against violators.
Concluding the session, Deputy Commissioner Memon reiterated that all departments must perform their duties in the field every day, rather than relying only on office-based work. He said regular feedback and monitoring would determine each officer’s performance in future evaluations.
The district administration plans to continue holding such weekly reviews to maintain momentum on service delivery and ensure ongoing issues are addressed systematically.
