Students showcase creative brilliance at Alhamra

LAHORE, Jun 14 (APP): The Allah Bux Gallery at Alhamra Arts Center, the Mall,  opened its doors on Saturday to an extraordinary display of creativity as final-year students from the Textile Design Department at Kinnaird College for Women showcased their thesis projects.
The exhibition, held under the auspices of the Lahore Arts Council, drew praise from art enthusiasts, educators, and cultural leaders alike.
Alhamra Executive Director Touqeer Haider Kazmi, along with Dr. Ghazala (Vice Principal, Kinnaird College), Dr. Masha (Dean of Social Sciences and Law), and Dr. Saima Jabbar (Dean of Arts), inaugurated the exhibition. They viewed the students’ artwork and commended their imaginative concepts, technical skill, and the depth of their expression.
Touqeer Haider said that the exhibition reflects a vibrant fusion of observation, effort, and creativity. “This body of work reveals how today’s youth are reimagining art with fresh perspectives. Their commitment and craftsmanship deserve immense appreciation,” he said.
Later, Chairman Alhamra Razi Ahmed, also joined the exhibition and visited the gallery, accompanied by the Executive Director.
Dr. Ghazala highlighted Kinnaird’s century-long legacy of empowering women through holistic education, stating that such exhibitions are a testament to the institution’s continued success in fostering academic and creative excellence.
Dr. Masha praised the innovative themes and technical diversity on display, noting that the projects explored modern approaches including weaving, knitting, fabric construction, computer-aided design, and product visualization.
Dr. Saima Jabbar shared that this year’s thesis projects encompassed a wide array of thought-provoking themes, including depression, Mughal art, space, fantasy hybrids, nature and craft, human evolution, surveillance and technology, marine beauty, mythology, childhood memories, boarding life, and the cultural texture of inner-city Lahore.
With 26 students contributing to this showcase, the exhibition not only celebrates the culmination of four years of rigorous academic and creative training but also affirms Alhamra’s role as a nurturing space for young voices in Pakistani art and design.
