LAHORE, Jun 04 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, expressed deep sorrow over the continued suffering of millions of children in Palestine and Indian-occupied Kashmir, who have tragically become victims of Israeli and Indian aggression.
She said that when the innocent smiles of children are replaced with cries and sighs, it shakes the very conscience of humanity. “Thousands of lifeless bodies of children buried beneath the rubble in Gaza stand as a painful reminder of the world’s silence in the face of Israeli brutality,” she remarked.
The CM said the Israeli bombings have not only reduced buildings to rubble but also claimed the lives of countless innocent children. In Kashmir, she added, the air is heavy with the unheard cries of children whose voices have been silenced forever by decades of oppression.
Calling it one of the darkest chapters in modern history, she regretted that children continue to suffer aggression not only during wars but even in times of peace. She emphasized that protecting children from all forms of violence and exploitation is a moral and collective responsibility.
CM Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her government’s unwavering commitment to child protection in Punjab, stating that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard the rights and well-being of children across the province.
Highlighting a major policy milestone, she said the Punjab Cabinet has approved the province’s first-ever ‘Child Protection Policy’, a historic step towards institutionalizing child rights and welfare. “Every institution, every law, and every action of the Punjab government is being aligned with the protection, development, and empowerment of children,” she added. A society that cannot guarantee peace and safety for its children can never achieve lasting peace for itself, she concluded.
