PM felicitates Malaysia’s Mahathir on assuming prime minister’s office

ISLAMABAD, May 23 (APP):Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Wednesday telephoned his Malaysian counterpart Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and congratulated him on assumption of office of his country’s prime minister.
Prime Minister Abbasi appreciated the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections and transfer of power, which he said reflected the maturity of Malaysian nation.
He noted that the unprecedented success of political alliance Pakatan Harapan was a manifestation of people’s trust in Dr. Mahathir’s dynamic and inspirational leadership.
Prime Minister Abbasi also discussed Pakistan-Malaysia relations with Prime Minister Mahathir and expressed keen desire to further strengthen bilateral relations by exploring potential in economic, investment, energy, defence and tourism sectors.
Abbasi also highlighted the issues facing the Muslim Ummah including Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
He underscored the need for exchange of high-level visits including parliamentary exchanges, to provide necessary impetus and direction to the bilateral relations.
He extended invitation to Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir to visit Pakistan.
Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir thanked Prime Minister Abbasi for his wishes and affirmed his commitment to further strengthen and deepen bilateral ties.
