WASA warns of action over dumping animal waste in drains

FAISALABAD, Jun 02 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has warned citizens to avoid from dumping animal waste in the drains on Eid-ul-Azha otherwise strict action would be taken without any discrimination.
In a message here on Monday, Managing Director WASA Aamer Aziz has urged the citizens to refrain from disposing of animal waste and sacrificial remains into main sewer channels and drainage lines during the days of Eid-ul-Azha and said that such practices severely disrupt the sewerage disposal system and may lead to legal consequences.
He highlighted the operational challenges faced by WASA during Eid festivities and said that throwing animal offal and waste into drains causes severe blockages. This practice not only results in the malfunctioning of sewage disposal system but also leads to widespread public inconvenience and puts immense pressure on WASA’s response teams due to the surge in complaints.
He advised the people to dispose of sacrificial waste properly and responsibly to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services.
He also requested the citizens to cooperate with WASA by not throwing remains into main drainage channels as it compromises the entire city’s drainage infrastructure.
He said that WASA free helpline 1334 is fully operational 24/7 and the people can register any complaints regarding drainage or sewerage issues through this service.
He also announced that WASA’s Drainage Directorate will be monitoring key areas during Eid and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found dumping animal waste into the sewer system.
