DERA ISMAIL KHAN, May 30 (APP):The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has organized a one-day training workshop here at the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), Dera on Friday.
The workshop was organized under the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Emergency Program titled “Enhancing Rice Production” aimed to equip farmers with the latest knowledge on modern rice cultivation practices, safe use of agrochemicals, and mechanized farming techniques.
Addressing the event as a chief guest, Director General of Planning and Development Division at PARC Dr. Pirzada Muhammad Arshad Saleem highlighted the government’s initiatives to promote agriculture and appreciated efforts to bridge the gap between research and practical farming.
In his welcome address, ARI Dera Director Abdul Qayyum Khan emphasized the importance of adopting modern agricultural technologies. On this occasion, Farm Manager at the ARI Kashan Qureshi presented an overview of the institute and its ongoing projects.
Expert speakers delivered technical lectures on a range of topics including practical aspects of rice farming and mechanization; soil health and its effective management; new rice varieties developed by PARC and their benefits; seed quality and the certification system besides a comprehensive plan for the efficient use of fertilizers.
The workshop concluded with participants expressing their commitment to adopting modern agricultural practices to improve rice yields. In addition to the informative sessions, the event provided farmers with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with experts and seek solutions to practical farming challenges.
This initiative reflects a vital step in translating agricultural research into action, empowering farmers to contribute to national food security and economic growth.
