PESHAWAR, May 29 (APP):KP Minister for Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperative Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousefzai chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to address cattle’s movement control and prevention of contagious diseases.
Participants were included Provincial Assembly Member Sultan Room Khan, Secretary Livestock Fisheries & Cooperative Tahir Orakzai, Director General Livestock Extension Dr. Asal Khan, Director General Livestock Research Dr. Ijaz Ali, Director Research Khusro Kaleem and relevant Livestock Department officials.
Key decisions were finalized to prevent infectious disease spread among cattle during Eid-ul-Adha. Provincial Minister Fazal Yousufzai directed immediate cancellation of leave for all veterinary staff until Eid-ul-Adha, with mandatory field deployment of district officers to enforce precautions. Checkposts will be established near inter-provincial/district borders and animal markets for strict movement monitoring and compulsory disinfectant spraying on animals. Veterinary camps will operate in high-density livestock areas for timely diagnosis, treatment, and vaccination. Letters will be issued to Divisional Commissioners and law enforcement agencies seeking departmental cooperation.
Provincial Minister Fazal Hakeem Yousufzai emphasized that mass animal movement during Eid poses significant epidemic risks, stating “Our government prioritizes public health above all.” Additional measures include public awareness campaigns, improved sanitation, and immediate reporting of suspected cases. Special monitoring will ensure all protocols are implemented.
