ISLAMABAD, Dec.17 (APP): Minister for Interior and Narcotics Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Thursday told the National Assembly that “we have to remain vigilant as the war on terror had not yet finished”.

Sharing performance of two-and- half year of the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, the Minister said the terrorists have just been marginalized after the launch of National Action Plan (NAP).

He said the Ministry of Interior during this period did a lot of work and shared more than 2500 intelligence reports with the law enforcing agencies and provincial governments, adding that more than 900 information excerpts were shared with security agencies of the provincial government which resulted into intelligence based operation against the extremists and terrorists.

The Minister said the interior ministry was in well coordination with the provincial governments and this collaboration has resulted in improvement in law and order situation in the country. He said the frequency of bomb blasts have also  declined considerably as there was no occurrence of such incidents on daily basis.

The Minister said a Joint Intelligence Directorate would be set up within a period of three months as funds have already been allocated for the purpose. This would help further improve the intelligence sharing and subsequently will help eliminate menace of terrorism from the country.

Nisar said that his ministry has taken several measures to curb corruption in all attached departments and organizations of the Interior Ministry.

He said several employees of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA), Passport Offices, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Police have not only suspended from services but have been arrested and sent to jail for malpractices.

He said that 64 employees were sacked from FIA, who approached the court, however they have been marginalized and sent back to their own organizations.

He said there was need that we pay attention towards financial position of FIA employees as they are less paid compared to police force. He said lack of appropriate human resource was the biggest problem of Pakistan, adding that there also was not a proper system to promote employees to higher grade as even Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) were not written on merit.

The minister said that all the foreign security agencies have been banned to work in the country and there was no presence of black-waters in the country as of now.

The minister said the ministry has blocked more than 1,000,000 national identity cards and sacked 10 people form NADRA on issuance of wrong cards.

The minister said online passport facility would be introduced as a facility to the people.

Initially the scheme would be introduced in a few cities and later would be extended to other areas.

He said that Mega NADRA and Passport Officer would be established all across the country, initially some would be established in January 2016 and others during the remaining year.
