Wapda wins national women kabaddi title


LAHORE, Dec 16 (APP)- Wapda won the title of the inaugural national women kabaddi championship with a comfortable 43-29 points win over Pakistan Army in the final here on Friday at Wapda sports complex.
Wapda put up resolute efforts to outplay Army in all departments of the game in the final stages of the play.
Army dazzled with aggressive play to take a good start in the final but their performance faded away when Wapda bounced back to take control with collective team efforts.
As the score was leveled at some stages in early half of the play and Wapda continued its determined efforts to widen the lead and eventually left behind Army at far distance at points table, winning the match in style with ease and comfort.
Punjab secured third position whereas Islamabad stood at 4th position in the championship.
The 3-day championship was organised by Wapda Sports Board in
collaboration with Pakistan Kabaddi Federation. As many as seven teams namely Wapda, Pakistan Army, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan took part in the competition.
Amer Ahmad, Secretary Wapda who is also the President, Wapda Sports Board was the chief guest at the final and gave away trophies and medals to the winning teams. Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the players and management of the winning teams.
He also commended the organizers for making excellent arrangements for holding this maiden championship successfully.
