UN urged to play role for implementing its resolution on Kashmir issue

PPP to not support any undemocratic step to oust govt: Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah on Wednesday urged the United Nations to fulfill its commitment in implementing resolutions for resolving Kashmir issue.

Speaking during joint session of the Parliament, the
opposition leader said the UN had declared and made commitment on many occasions as mentioned in its Resolutions that Kashmir issue should be resolved in line with aspirations of Kashmiris people.

But, he questioned as why the world body had kept mum
over the issue and had been showing its inactiveness with regard to resolving the Kashmir issue which had endangered peace in the entire region while Indian forces were out to commit atrocities against Kashmiris people.

He said people of Kashmir had long been waging
their freedom struggle which would reach its logical

He said that the entire nation was united and firmly
standing with Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle of right to self determination.

“No comprise will be made on Kashmir issue which had
been at the top of the agenda during its first Convention of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP),” he said adding it had be to resolved at all as such resolve was also expressed by the PPP founding leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto leader who laid the foundation of a nuclear bomb programme despite world pressure.

He said Zulfikar Bhutto opted to make country a
nuclear state as he was of the view that issues with India including Kashmir issue should be resolved on equality basis.
He said Mian Nawaz Sharif also followed the suit
and opted for nuclear tests as it was unavoidable in
order to create balance of power in region that made
Pakistan to sustain Indian hegemonic designs in the region.

He also underlined the need for making foreign
policy more robust to further strengthen the country’s
diplomatic front and effectively apprise the world
about degrading treatment meted out by India to Kashmiri people and human rights abuses by its forces in the occupied valley.

He stressed the need for mobilizing diplomatic
corps including members from the treasury and opposition benches to highlight Kashmir issue on the international level.
He said India was out to isolate Pakistan diplomatically,
adding the SAARC conference Meeting was boycotted, since two Muslim countries including Afghanistan and Bangladesh did not turn up.

If resolutions and decisions which were taken in all
parties conferences would been implemented in letter and spirit, India would ultimately fail to fulfill such designs.

He said the world could have been apprised about
Indian spy who was arrested in Pakistan to expose
India’s hand in deteriorating situation in Balcohistan.

Similarly, he added Nehur’s letters that disputed areas including Kashmir issue should be resolved as per aspiration of its people, could also be presented before the world to reinforce Pakistan’s efforts for resolving the Kashmir issue.
He said there were no two opinions on key issues like
Kashmir, country’s sovereignty, democracy and corruption. He said bills with regard to elimination of corruption should be passed to ensure corruption free society.

He also lauded struggle of PPP for strengthening
democracy, saying Zulfkir Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto offered their sacrifices for the sake of people and democracy in the country.
