ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI F) chief
and Chairman Kashmir Committee Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday, hailing the Prime Minister for special focus on Kashmir in his speech to UN General Assembly, said that the United Nations had failed to implement its own resolutions on Kashmir issue.
Speaking on the motion regarding discussion on Kashmir
issue including human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and the situation arising out of Indian ceasefire violation along the Line of Control, the JUI F Chief urged the international community to play their due role in solving the longstanding issue of Kashmir.
He said Kashmiri people should be given their right of
self determination in light of the UN Resolutions. “If any
one wants to play mediation role to resolve the longstanding
issue amicably, we will welcome it,” he said.
He said the UN had passed resolutions unanimously to
give right of self determination to Kashmiri people according
to their aspirations.
The JUI F Chief said the Indian Foreign Minister also
show disrespect to the UN forum because the points which
she raised during General Assembly session were in contrary
to the UN Resolutions.
Endorsing the view points of the Prime Minister and
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed
Khurshid Shah, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the whole nation
was united and assured the Kashmiri people that whole
nation was with them.
He said Kashmir had become a humanitarian issue and
the world should take notice of the Indian aggression
being committed by its forces against innocent civilian
population of the occupied valley.
The Kashmiri people have been undergoing curfew by
Indian forces for the last 90 days resulting shortage of
food and other essential items in IOK.
He also appreciated the Prime minister’s initiative to send envoys to various countries to highlight Kashmir issue and said they should be sent to all continents
to highlight Pakistani stance effectively.
The JUJ F Head also called for convening a session of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to sensitize
heads of all Islamic countries on Kashmir issue.
He said that “we have to take the Kashmir issue at
international forum as India had been creating hurdles
in implementation of UN Resolutions for the last 70

Indus Basin Waters Treaty despite the fact that it could
not scrap it unilaterally.
He said Pakistan was an agricultural country and its
economy depends on agriculture. India was building dams
to make Pakistani lands barren, he added.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said “we should devise a clear
strategy for lobbying to protect our interests.”
He said both India and Pakistan could not afford war
and the International community should take notice of it.
He also called for revisiting policies adopted by the
military dictator Gen Musharraf in 2001.
He said some foreign forces did not want progress and
development in this region and efforts were being made to
sabotage Pak China Economic Corridor project, he said.
He urged the government to complete the project as early
as possible to foil the international conspiracies.
