UN chief’s ‘good offices’ offer to India, Pakistan stands: Spokesman

Agriculture must transform to feed a hotter, more crowded planet—UN

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 28 (APP): Amid heightening tensions between India and Pakistan, the United Nations Wednesday reiterated Secretary General Ban Ki moon’s offer of his good offices to mediate the issues between the two countries, provided both sides agree to his mediation.

“Our position on the good offices (of the secretary general) remains the same,” the secretary general’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at the regular noon briefing in response to series of questions.

Ban’s office has repeatedly said that the UN chief’s good offices are available on helping resolve the Kashmir and other issues only if both India and Pakistan request for it.
