LAHORE, Dec 27 (APP): Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday appreciated the performance of the previous board of governors of the University of Health Sciences especially the outgoing members Mehr Jiwan Khan and Justice (retd) Aamer Raza.
Presiding over a meeting of the UHS Board of Governors here at University of Health Sciences, he welcomed the nomination of two ladies on the newly-constituted BoG which, he said, was a proof of commitment of the Punjab government for empowering women.
This was the first meeting of the BoG of the UHS after the new non-official members were notified by the Punjab government the last week.
In the beginning of the meeting, all members of the Board of Governors unanimously agreed to make Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar as chairman of the BoG.
Thereafter, the Finance Minister thanked the members for reposing trust in him and hoped that the new Board of Governors would do its best for the UHS.
UHS Vice Chancellor Maj Gen ® Prof Muhammad Aslam gave a detailed briefing to the chairman regarding working of the university.
The BoG deliberated upon the possibilities for mobilizing resources for the Kala Shah Kaku campus of the UHS.
The meeting also discussed in detail the agenda related to administrative matters as well as policy and regulatory matters.
The Chairman said enough time should be given to student nurses so that they could complete their education in determined time limit.
It was also decided in the meeting that seven years ban should be imposed on students who commit forgery in their names.
Prof Amir Aziz, Ms Seema Ilahi Baloch, Secretary Finance Punjab and Secretary Health Punjab also attended the meeting.
