Teachers role crucial for transforming lives of future generations: Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, May 16 (APP):Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Irfan Siddiqui Wednesday said teachers play crucial role in transforming the lives of future generations through giving them proper education and training despite growth of advance information technology.
“Role of teachers is more significant in creating useful citizens which only books and syllabus cannot do”, he said while addressing the launching ceremony of a book titled “Roshni key Safeer” here.
The ceremony was arranged by National Language Promotion Department (NLPD).
Irfan Siddiqui said one year ago, he floated the idea of publishing a series of books based on the lives and achievements of the prominent teachers who have devoted their lives for the cause of education.
This task was given to NLPD which it has successfully executed by publishing the first book in a short span of time, he said.
He said strong relationship between teacher and student is indispensable for training and character building of the students.
He hoped the next publication under this series of books to pay tribute to the teachers will include achievements of teachers of religious madaris and prominent scholars without any discrimination.
On this occasion, renowned scholar, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, in his presidential address, appreciated this initiative and said role of teachers is acknowledged for the first time in this way that the books to pay tribute to them are being published on government expenses.
Federal Secretary of NH&LH Division, Engineer Aamir Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Professor Samina Ameen Qadir, Rector International Islamic University, Dr Masoom Yasinzai, renowned scholar, Professor Qaisera Alvi, renowned poet, Professor Jalil Aali and other literary persons also spoke on the occasion.
