SIALKOT, Sept 12 (APP)-President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Mansoor Ahmed has urged the government to take appropriate steps for setting up Special Economic Zone in favour of higher exports volume.
Talking to APP on Monday,he said that business community
was ready to play its vibrant role for enhancing exports, adding Special Economic Zone (SEZ) would gear up export activities as well as enable local business community play its dynamic role for enhancing exports volume.
“SEZ has the potential to open up new vistas for industrial growth and generate large scale employment opportunities for workers”,he reiterated.
The SCCI President pointed out that local business community was confronting “shortage of skilled and semi skilled workforce” and stressed upon Punjab and federal government to help establish training institutions in the city.
“Such steps would help produce technical hands in accordance with needs of local industry”.
He also called for setting up mini industrial estates for
accommodating SMEs and vendors. These mini industrial areas should be developed in outskirts of Sialkot for providing employment opportunities to industrial workers to their doorstep,he said.
He said that SCCI had focussed special attention on the promotion of women entrepreneurship and SME sector,adding that SCCI had already established Women Resource Centre for extending necessary support and guidance to women for setting up independent businesses.
