Six athletes selected for Junior Asian Athletics Championship

LAHORE, June 2 (APP):- Six athletes will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Junior Asian Athletics Championship scheduled to be held in Vietnam from June 3 to 6.

The athletes were selected here on Thursday after a training camp organized under the auspices of Sports Board Punjab (SBP) and Punjab Athletics Association at Punjab Stadium.

Following athletes will appear in Junior Asian Athletics Championship:
Arshad Nadeem (javelin), Mohammad Yasir (javelin), Mohammad Bilal Sadiq (4x100m), Mohammad Afzal (triple jump), Mohammad Shahbaz (100m) and Mohammad Laeeq
Naveed (100m).

“We expect fine show from our athletes in the Jr Asian athletic meet , ” said a spokesman of PAA while talking to APP.

He said the athletes have been selected on the basis of their performance in the training camp and athletics events.

“The participation of our athletes in the Asian junior premier athletic activity will expose them to high profile experience besides lifting the level of their game to perform well in future athletics events abroad, ” he added.

He said it is imperative to ensure the regular participation of junior athletes in international events to enhance their experience and help them to become quality athletes in due course of time.
