Shehbaz Sharif pays surprise visit to DHQ Nankana, reprimands MS

LAHORE, Nov 21 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters Hospital Nankana without any protocol.

District administration including DCO Nankana were unaware about the
visit of the Chief Minister.

Shehbaz Sharif inspected different wards, emergency and dialysis unit
of the hospital. He inquired after the patients and asked about medical facilities and availability of medicines in the hospital.

The Chief Minister also inquired under-treatment patients in the dialysis unit about the treatment facilities.

Shehbaz Sharif expressed indignation over poor cleanliness conditions at some places in the hospital and reprimanded the medical superintendent. He said that this situation would not be allowed to continue.

He also expressed displeasure over the failure to dispose of hospital
waste in a proper manner and directed hospital administration to make proper arrangements for this purpose as hospital waste was the cause of diseases.

Patients and their attendants expressed satisfaction over the treatment
facilities available at the hospital and said that efficiency of the hospital had improved since the Chief Minister started paying visits to hospitals. They said that behavior of doctors and paramedical staff was good while medicines were also available.

The Chief Minister inspected medical store of the hospital and reviewed
the arrangements for storage of medicines. He also checked the stock register of medicines.

Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif said that he would continue to visit hospitals until patients were satisfied with the treatment facilities. He said that satisfaction of patients was his success.

He said that he was determined to change the conditions of hospitals and there would be no shortage of funds in that regard.

Addressing doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of the hospital, he
said, “Service to ailing humanity is a form of worship and they should perform their duties with commitment and dedication as they are also answerable to Allah Almighty.”

He said that provision of best treatment facilities to people in
hospitals, supply of free medicines and improvement of services of doctors and paramedical staff was the mission of the government. He said that stern action would be taken against government officials involved in corruption and dereliction of duty.

The Chief Minister during inspection of washrooms of the wards directed hospital administration to further improve facilities.

DCO Nankana Saira Umer informed the Chief Minister about the setting up of new emergency, provision of benches for patients, construction of parking sheds for doctors, installation of new air-conditioners, new wiring and transformers as well as other matters.
