Ahsan Iqbal meets CCIEE CEO, explores prospects of diversifying CPEC cooperation

LAHORE, Sept 17 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning & Development Ahsan Iqbal here Saturday called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discussed with him progress of public welfare projects especially China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Chief Minister said, China Pakistan Economic Corridor was aimed at progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the entire region would benefit from this project.

The CPEC was a game-changer, as it would change the destiny of the region, he said and added that development projects under CPEC were being completed speedily throughout the country.

Shehbaz Sharif said China was making a historic investment of USD 46 billion in Pakistan, and Chinese investment would not be limited to only USD 46 billion dollars but more investment would also be made. He said that CPEC had opened the doors of foreign investment in Pakistan, while vast job opportunities were being created as a result of Chinese investment of billions of dollars in the country.

The Chief Minister said the CPEC would play an important role in elimination of terrorism and poverty alleviation in the region, asserting that huge Chinese investment in Pakistan was a proof of confidence in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that work was being carried out vigorously on CPEC projects throughout the country.

Shehbaz Sharif said that speed, standard and transparency were the hallmark of these projects, and implementation of CPEC had ushered a new era of friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

He said that economic cooperation between China and Pakistan would leave a positive impact on the entire region as people of different countries including Pakistan would benefit from the CPEC projects.
