ISLAMABAD, Sept 7 (APP): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that presently seven first aid centers are functional on National Highways and Motorways network.

In question hour, he said, first aid centers are operational at Mardan, Chakri, Sukheki, Sial, Bhera, Kallar Kahar and Nooriabad.

He said that availability of emergency and first aid medical services on highway, motorways are essential.

NA-question In this respect, he said, NHA has initiated a study on setting up emergency response centers on suitable locations and it will be expected to complete in three month.

To minimize the accidents ratio, NHA had started awareness of commuters through installation of Sign Boards, enforcement of speed limit restriction by NH&MP, installation of speed breakers/cat eyes at crucial locations, monitoring of heavy weight vehicles through Axle load Control Program, patrolling of NH&MP on National Highways and Motorways, police fine imposition, timely repair and maintenance of roads and enforcement of Highway Safety Program.

He said, construction works on dualization of existing Muzaffargarh-D.G. Khan road had not been commenced, however, NHA invited bids for undertaking up gradation, dualization of Multan-Muzaffargarh – D.G. Khan section of National Highway.

He said that the Prime Minister has recently approved a package to revive Pakistan Post.
