ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP):Federal Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shafqat Jalil on Friday said that March 23 was an important day in the history of the nation and organizing exhibitions of historical photographs was vital to create awareness among the new generation about the scarifies rendered by our forefathers for the creation of Pakistan.

Speaking as a chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of week-long photo exhibition “The Photographic Journey Through History” organized by Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP) at Awian-e-Quaid F-9 Park, he said that such exhibitions were one way to pay tributes to the leaders and workers of freedom movement.

He appreciated the efforts of DEMP for organizing the photographic exhibition of rare pictures from the life of the Quaid-i-Azam and other leaders of the Pakistan Movement.

He said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting every year organizes such events so that the new generation could learn about the scarifies and contribution of the leaders and workers of freedom movement.

He expressed the hope that we as a nation would succeed to transform Pakistan into a modern welfare state as envisioned by the founder of the nation.
He hoped that people from all walks of life would visit the exhibition especially youth and learn about the history of the country.

Earlier the secretary hoisted the national flag and witnessed a special documentary prepared and a national song prepared by DEMP and national anthem was played by a local music band. He visited the exhibition and showed keen interest in the photographs put on display.

Briefing the Secretary the DG DEMP said that over 200 rare photographs and paintings of Father of the Nation, Thinker of Pakistan and other prominent leaders of Pakistan movement besides chronology of events leading to the creation of Pakistan were being displayed in the exhibition.

Talking to APP, the young singer of national song Zoha said she was happy that she was provided an opportunity to pay tributes to the leaders of Pakistan movement through the song.

Besides Director General DEMP Shahira Shahid, Principal Information Officer Mian Jehangir Iqbal, Deputy Director General DEMP Muhammad Tahir and Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan Muhammad Qamrullah were also present on the occasion.
