ISLAMABAD, May 12 (APP): Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid said Thursday a total of Rs. 1.717 trillion worth of transactions were carried out through Branchless Banking (BB) channels during a period of one year from April 2015 to March 2016.

Replying on behalf of the finance minister in the Senate, he said these 356.14 million transactions were carried from April 2015 to March 2016.

So far, he added nine banks including United Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited, Waseela-Micro-Finance Bank, U-Micro Finance Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank, Bank Alfalah, Meezan bank, Askari bank and Tameer-Micro Finance Bank were providing Branchless Banking services in the country under various brand names with “Easy Paisa” being one of them offered by Tameer Micro Finance Bank.
