ISLAMABAD, Nov 4 (APP): Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar Wednesday apprised the Senate that the recruitment process in the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) would be completed by end of the current month.
During the question-hour, the minister said rules and regulations of the authority had been finalized, besides a building has been hired on rent to make the body operative.
She said a quality control department had been established in DRAP, which is the hallmark of the body, adding “laboratories of international standard are being set up to serve the cause.”
To another question, Saira said medicines for treatment of tuberculosis (TB) are being provided free of cost.
“Medicines to all registered TB patients are provided free of cost by Provincial TB centers with a two-month backup, not by the provincial governments,” she added.
She said 90 percent TB control programme is being carried out under the global funds across the country.
To a supplementary question, the minister said most of the funds are being spend in Balochistan for treatment of TB patients.
She said the TB disease is one of the biggest challenges not only for Pakistan, but the whole world.
