Rana Tanveer, Azeri envoy discuss defence production matters

Pakistan-South Africa relations are increasing with a steady pace

ISLAMABAD, Sep 8 (APP): Ambassador of Azerbaijan Dashgin Shikarov called on Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain in his office here Thursday and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The minister expressed Pakistan’s whole-hearted support for
Azerbaijan’s plans of modernizing its armed forces.

The minister highly appreciated the brotherly feelings of Azerbaijan Government for Pakistan on all international forums including Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and United Nations.

Both sides agreed to form a Joint Working Group (JWG) for
establishment and promotion of defence industrial cooperation.

The minister desired to sign MoU on defence industrial cooperation.

Azerbaijan is looking for joint ventures and transfer of technology to develop its defence industry.

The ambassador of Azerbaijan conveyed his concerns on current Kashmir scenario and condemned the atrocities of Indian army in Indian occupied Kashmir.

The minister appreciated existing training cooperation between the two countries and desired to expand it further.

The minister proposed more frequent exchange of visits to each others institutions to explore new areas of mutual cooperation.

He also stressed on the importance of student exchange program especially in the field of science and technology.

Dashgin Shikarov thanked government of Pakistan for its cooperation in development of defence industry of Azerbaijan and appreciated efforts of the Minister of Defence Production in enhancing ties between the two countries.

He also extended invitation to Rana Tanveer Hussain for a Defence Exhibition (ADEX-2) being held from 27-30 September 2016 in Azerbaijan.
