Qayyum welcomes opposition’s stance on terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Aug 10 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Lt General ® Abdul Qayyum Wednesday welcomed speeches of opposition leaders in the National Assembly for forging unity to fight war against terrorism.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the opposition leaders have assured their full cooperation to expedite measures for eliminating terrorism from the country.

He said with the measures taken under National Action Plan (NAP), security situation had improved visibly as terror related incident had decreased.

The Senator said existing committees on National Security including Defense Committee of the Senate are functioning effectively in their areas.

Abdul Qayyum said law enforcement agencies were fighting war against terrorism and rendering unprecedented sacrifices for the cause.

He said Pakistan shares very long border with Afghanistan and there is need for effective measures to stop terrorist activities sponsored from across the border.

The Senator commenting on opposition’s token walkout from National Assembly said it was a routine matter and should not be taken as serious.
