ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (APP): Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday informed the House that arrears of the two-month salaries to employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) would be paid after the approval of Economic Coordination
Committee (ECC).
Responding to a calling attention notice, moved by Senator
Saleem Mandviwala regarding non-payment of salaries to the employees
of PSM for last two months and non-payment of gratuity to the retired
employees since 2013, he said a meeting of the ECC was likely to held
on Saturday or in next week that would look into the matter.
He said it was the responsibility of the PSM to make payment
to employees from their own resources but it failed.
He said PSM was included in the list of departments that
would be privatized on priority.
The Minister said that gas supply to the Steel Mills had
been suspended due to non-payment.
