LAHORE, Dec 13 (APP): Pakistan Sports Board has released cash award of Rs 1.5 million to snooker player Hamza Akbar for winning the Asian Snooker Title for Pakistan in 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“It is a very positive gesture shown by the PSB and it will go a long way in further development of snooker besides encouraging players to take up snooker as sport,” said Alamgir A Shaikh, president, PBSA here on Tuesday.
The cheque of Rs 1.5 million has been received by the PBSA from
the PSB to be handed over to Hamza, he added.
The PBSA places on record their deep appreciation to the Minister of
IPC, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and the PSB for this recognition of the Asian Snooker Title, which will help in further promoting snooker in the country, he added.
“Cash incentive will encourage snooker players to perform and excel in
International Competitions and bring laurels for our beloved country,”
