ISLAMABAD, Jun 26 (APP): Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will not be sponsoring those federations which are not affiliated with the board for the Asian Games to take place in Jakarta from August 18 to September 2.
Talking to APP, a PSB official said there are round about 12 to 13 federations which are not registered with PSB and therefore we won’t be supporting them for the games. “Some of the federations include archery, basketball, football, gymnastics and table tennis,” he said.
He said either these federations will be sponsored by Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) or they will bear their own expenses for the mega event. “PSB won’t be supporting any such federation that is not in its list,” he said.
Speaking about Asian Games preparations, he said training camps have been set up in three centers including Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. “Boxing, weightlifting, handball, karate, athletics, baseball and taekwondo camps are installed in Islamabad.”
“Wrestling, wushu, men’s swimming and ju-jitsu camps have been set up in Lahore while women’s swimming camp in Karachi,” he said and added the hockey training camp will be set up later after national team’s participation in the Champions Trophy at Netherlands.
