Privatization policy featuring public-private partnership goes on smoothly: Senate informed

Zahid for preparing youth to make Pakistan green

ISLAMABAD, Sept 28 (APP): Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid Wednesday said the government was moving ahead smoothly with privatization policy which focused on public-private partnership plan.

Replying to a question during question-hour in the Senate, the minister said 98 Industrial Units had been privatized so far, fetching about Rs 60 billion.

He said the privatized units include seven in automobile sector, 15 cement, 13 chemical, seven engineering, six fertilizer, 23 ghee, eight rice, 15 roti plants and four in textile sector, adding out of these, 19 units were functional.

Answering another question, the minister said there was no Warehouse at Sust (Khujrab) Dry Port, adding currently, there were 36 sheds at Sust which could accommodate cargo of 36 vehicles or containers at a time.

But presently, he added only three to four vehicles were handled, adding as the trade volume was enhanced as a result of CPEC business activities, the handling capacity and accommodation would be increased accordingly.
