MURREE, Dec 29: (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Tuesday inaugurated the famous General Post Office (GPO) building which has recently been restored on the pattern of past colonial period of early 19th century.
The Prime Minister was given a briefing by Dr. Nasir Javed, Project Director Urban Unit Punjab.
He said the grandiose building of colonial era was restored on its past glorious pattern at the cost of about Rs 70 million.
The building now equipped with all the latest facilities for the populace. A state of the art postal museum-the first ever of its kind- has also been established to enable the youth to get insight into operation of the significant mode of communication in the past.
Hamza Sharif, MNA and head of Murree Development Projects committee, Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Petroleum, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Special Assistant to PM Dr Asif Kirmani and high officials also accompanied the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister also inspected the state of the art postal museum.
The eye catching building now stands tall in the heart of popular hill resort with its facade and edifice fully restored, bearing resemblance to the British era architecture.
