People disappointed with Imran’s politics of sit ins: Babar

ISLAMABAD, Sept 10 (APP): Convener of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Founders Group Akbar S Babar has said that the people of Pakistan are disappointed with Imran Khan’s politics of sit ins.

Talking to APP, he said the party, which claimed to end
corruption from the country, had itself indulged in malpractices.

He urged PTI Chairman Imran Khan to hold leaders of his party accountable to know how they had become owners of large assets.

He claimed that many senior leaders of PTI would soon join the Founders Group.

He said the people refused to join the recent ‘Ehtesab’ (accountability) march of the PTI as they were disappointed with Imran’s politics of slogans.

Imran Khan should not go for sit ins rather he should
take steps for the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that the people could support him on the basis of his performance.

He said corruption had reached its peak in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa where contracts and development funds were given to favourites.

He alleged that some PTI leaders had nothing when joined the party, but now they had become rich.
To a question, Babar said Imran Khan was surrounded by land and loan mafia and those who changed loyalties for personal interests.

He said,”We want that party constitution should be followed
and party should be cleaned of corrupt elements.”

The disappointed and estranged workers of the party would be made active, he said adding those persons who pointed out corruption in PTI, were ousted from the party.

Babar S Akbar said he had provided proof of embezzlement in party funds to the Election Commission and “we are hopeful that decision will come in our favour.”

To another question, he said they intended to file an application in the Election Commission for securing electoral symbol of bat for the Founders Group.

He said his differences with Imran Khan emerged when the PTI chief supported Pervez Musharraf in the referendum of 2002.

He said they wanted that intra party elections should be held
under the former election commissioner of PTI Tasneem Noorani.

These elections should be free and transparent and only PTI
workers should take part in it, he remarked.

He called for suspension of membership of party workers
according to the instructions issued by the PTI Election Commission.

To a question, he said it was wrong to allege that he had the
support of Pakistan Muslim League N.

He said he wanted that the PTI should be run according to the basic manifesto of the party. They supported democracy and independent accountability, which could only be implemented when the party began the process of self accountability, he added.

He said a political vacuum was created in Karachi after the
anti Pakistan statements of Altaf Hussain and the PTI could have filled the void but it even failed to do so due to wrong policies.

A PTI spokesman was phoned to get his version on the
statement of Akbar S Babar, but he avoided to give his response.
