PDMA forwards summary to CM Balochistan for assistance to farmers


ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (APP):Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan has said that Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forwarded a summary to the Chief Minister Balochistan for assistance package amounting Rs. 280.072 million to the farmers whose crops were damaged due to rains.
He stated this while responding to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Fazal Muhammad Khan here in National Assembly.
The State Minister said that National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was in contact with PDMA to assess the loss in country due to recent rains while NDMA has given relief package amounting Rs. 204.053 million to Balochistan and Sindh. However, the minister agreed to enhance the relief amount for rain hit areas.
The minister told the House that a survey is underway in Punjab to assess the damage due to recent rains. A total of 12,944 acre land only in Rajanpur has been affected due to recent rains, he added.
State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs said that government will introduce a comprehensive policy on agriculture soon. He offered the Opposition to have debate on it in the House so that their concerns may be addressed.
Meanwhile, the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar directed to submit report in the House about the overall loss due to recent heavy rains in the country. He asked the federal government to work with Provincial Governments to know about the overall loss and submit the comprehensive report about it in the House.
