Pakistan’s wish for peace not be taken as weakness: Musadik


ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (APP): Spokesman to the Prime Minister Dr Musadik Malik Tuesday said Pakistan wanted peace, development and prosperity in the region but it should not be considered as a weakness.

Talking in a TV programme, he appreciated the unity shown by all Parliamentary parties that was also demonstrated in the recent meeting held by the government.

He said the government was completely aware of all internal and external challenges to the country and measures were being taken to tackle them.

Replying to a question, he said although maintaining law and order was the responsibility of the provinces after 18th amendment however the federal government was providing every possible support in that regard.

He said due to effective measures taken by the government, law and order situation had improved visibly throughout the country as compared to the past.

There was visible reduction in Karachi target killings, extortion, terrorism and street crimes due to operation that was started in consultation with all political parties.

Replying to another query, he said the government had launched operations including Zarb-e-Azb, Karachi and combing operations to root out terrorism and maintaining law and order. These operations have achieved maximum success, he added.

He said the government would achieve its target of complete elimination of terrorism from every nook and cranny.

Dr Musadik said Pakistan had been hosting almost three million Afghan Refugees for many decades.

He said Pakistan would not allow use of its land against any country.
