ISLAMABAD, June 14 (APP): Senator of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz
(PML-N), Lt. General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum Tuesday said that Pakistan wanted good cordial relations with Afghanistan as it was imperative for regional peace.
“It was agreed with Afghanistan government that terrorists would not use Afghan territory against Pakistan,” he said in a private news channel program.
“Pakistan is hosting some three million Afghans and the Afghan government should respect this overture of Pakistan.”
Commenting on recent firing on Torkham boarder, he said the
governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan should resolve the firing issue politically and diplomatically.
He said there were several people behind the firing incident on the
boarder as India has influence in Afghanistan. The firing incident may
be deemed as a bid to create problems for Pakistan and tension between two neighboring countries.
Abdul Qayyum stressed the need to secure our western boarder and
said, Pakistan always wanted good ties with all its neighboring countries.
Replying to a question, he said Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign
Affairs Sartaj Aziz had given clear statement on drone attack in
which Taliban leader Mulla Mansoor was killed.
Analyst Brig (Retd) Mahmood Shah said that the construction of gate
on Pakistan and Afghanistan boarder would help checking illegal movement across the border.
