Pakistan, Mauritius agree to enhance cooperation on literary fronts

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP):Pakistan and Mauritius Wednesday agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of literature, arts and culture and conduct translations of each other’s literature.
This was agreed by Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Irfan Siddiqui and High Commissioner of Mauritius in Pakistan, Rashidally Soobadar in a meeting held at the division to discuss the matters of mutual interests.
Speaking during the meeting, Irfan Siddiqui said Pakistan and Mauritius have great potential and can explore vast opportunities to conduct joint ventures on literary and cultural fronts.
During the meeting, Rashidally Soobadar suggested to establish a Center of Urdu Language in Mauritius.
Welcoming his suggestion, Siddiqui said practical steps will be taken to establish Center of Urdu Language in Mauritius through mutual consultation.
He expressed delight over Urdu language being taught in the educational institutions of Mauritius as an optional subject.
He said the division has conducted translations of literature of different countries including China which has received over whelming response from the literary circles in the country.
He said the literary works of the writers of Mauritius will also be translated in Urdu language to enable people of our country understand the culture of this beautiful country.
Siddiqui formally invited Soobadar to attend the upcoming events of National Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition and National Book Fair.
