CHAMAN, Sep 01 (APP): Pak Afghan Friendship Gate on Pak Afghan border in Chaman has been reopened after a closure of over 12 days, here on Thursday. Nine new NARDA
centers have also been set up at the gate for registration and verification of people crossing border.
Muhammad Safdar, a senior official of a law enforcement agency deployed at Pak Afghan Friendship Gate told APP that border was opened today (Thursday) at 7 a.m. following a
decision taken in the flag meeting held between officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan border forces in Chaman last night.
The Afghan officials handed over a letter of their senior officials to Pakistani officials, through which, the officials of Afghanistan government and Afghanistan border forces
strongly condemned act of burning Pakistan flag and pictures and effigy of founder of Pakistan, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Wesh Mandi area of Afghanistan on August 18.
Some miscreants torched Pakistani flag and pictures and effigy of the founder of Pakistan inside Afghanistan territory on August 18 which was deplorable act and we strongly
condemned it,the Afghanistan officials letter said.
After that the Afghanistan apologized in written over the August 18 act, Pakistani officials decided to reopen Pak Afghan Friendship Gate,FC officials said. Now NATO supplies,
Afghan Transit Trade and cross border trade through Pak Afghan Friendship Gate have once again got momentum.
The FC officials said that nine new centers of NADRA had been set up at Pak Afghan Friendship Gate which had been registering and verifying all traveling documents of the
people crossing border from both sides of the border.The passport and identity card numbers of people are being registered at NADRA center of people crossing border into
Afghanistan and Pakistan, they said.
Tight security arrangements were made at Pak Afghan border.
People, especially, traders, business community, transporters and refugees expressed thier happiness over opening of border.
