ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (APP): Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan on Monday said the operation Zarb-e-Azb was yielding good results.
Addressing the launching ceremony of Digital Database on Terrorism, he said the country’s armed forces were effectively tackling the elements carrying out subversive activities due to which terrorists were on retreat.
The database was launched by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) in collaboration with JS Global and JS Bank here at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS).
Sardar Mehtab said entire political leadership and nation were standing by the armed forces to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.
The governor termed terrorist attack on Army Public School (APS) Peshawar ‘tragic incident’ and said the day would be remembered as black day in history of the country.
Soon after the APS tragic incident, he said, all the political as well as military leadership and nation got united to eliminate the menace of terrorism and extremism from the motherland.
“We do not allow any one to kill our children and attack our nation,” the determined governor said.
Sardar Mehtab hoped that after the operation Zarb-e-Azb and passage of one year of the APS tragedy “now the nation feels much secure.”
He said that National Action Plan (NAP) was moving in the right direction and the government was getting required results from it.
The governor appreciated the patience and courage exhibited by parents of APS’s martyred and ‘Ghazi’ children, saying “I have learnt a lot from parents who are steadfast in their stance about education and training of their children.”
The governor announced Rs one million for management of Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
Later, he distributed certificates among the PICSS internees from different universities and presented souvenirs to those who spoke at the launching ceremony.
Chairman PICSS Senator ® Akram Zaki, MNA Romina Khursheed, Chief Executive Officer JS Global Kamran Nasir, mother of Shaheed Huzaifa Aftab, Andleep Aftab, father of Sher Shah Shaheed, Tufail Khattak and Ghazi Waleed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
Schoolchildren performed on the song ‘Mujay Dushman ka Bachoon ko Parhana hay.’
