ISLAMABAD, Dec 8 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said that only a morally strong society could resist corruption and for this purpose the tradition of self-purification would have to be revived to lay the foundation of a vibrant society.
The creation of Pakistan was for revival of that cultural tradition wherein knowledge and civilization were reflection of great ideas of self and for that end Allama Iqbal had demanded a separate homeland for Muslims, he added.

The President was addressing the launching ceremony of the book “Maqamat” by Barrister Zafarullah Khan here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, according to a press release issued by the President’s office here.He said for progress and stability of Pakistan “it is necessary
that we do not lose sight of this context and therefore, it is the responsibility of the educational institutions to play an effective role in creating a blend of knowledge and self-purification.”

He said that if tradition of love for books and acquiring wisdom was kept alive then the country would progress both socially and materially. The President said that materialization of such a society dreamt by elders was possible only through revival of “Deen” (Religion) which could address the issues of our times and seek the blessings of Allah.
He added that “the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a shining example for us to emulate.”The President said that Barrister Zafarullah Khan’s book would help revive the tradition of self-purification and appreciated that there were people in the government who upheld the tradition of self-purification along with material progress. He opined that this could be accomplished without “Ijtehad” and without understanding the material and spiritual needs of the contemporary age.

Director Iqbal Academy Lahore and famous poet Ahmed Javed also
addressed the ceremony.
