NH, MP annual sports festival concludes

LAHORE, Dec 2 (APP): Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police Shaukat Hayat said on Friday that sports activities played vital role in the growth, formation and development of human life and help in building a healthy society.

“We are trying to develop a new culture of sports in our department and holding sports events to promote sports besides keeping our sportsmen mentally and physically fit,” he said this while addressing the closing the ceremony of 6th NH&MP Annual Sports Festival held at Sheikhupura.

Commandant Training College DIG Khalid Mahmood, DIG South Dr. Waliullah, DIG Operation & Evolution Ghulam Rasul Zahid, DIG Motorways Flt. Lt. (Rtd) Muhammad Imtiaz Shah, DIG Central Mirza Faran Baig Sector Commanders and other senior police officers were present on the occasion.

Shaukat Hayat said NH&MP is known not only in Pakistan but all over the world as courteous, honest and helping force.

Human resource development played imperative role in the success of any organization while sports are also vital to keep them engaged in healthy activities.

He said the sport activities help in creating healthy competition in
organizations like NH and MP. He urged the participants to display sports man spirit on and off the field. He said that NH&MP officials have shown excellence in their respective sports events and competitions and asked them to do the same while performing their normal duty with a display of professionalism.

“Sports activities always generate the environment of tolerance and the
struggle to achieve the success,” said the IG Shaukat.

The IG said sports activities are essential part of a human body whereas it is more essential in the forces and need regular participation in sports activities.

Inspector General NH&MP Shaukat Hayat congratulated the winning teams and appreciated the efforts of Commandant Training College DIG Khalid Mahmood for organizing the sports festival in a befitting manner.

The teams from Central, North, South, Central, Motorway, West Zones,
Training College and Headquarters participated in the sports festival.

In seven days long festival Cricket, Football, Tug of War, Basketball,
Volley Ball, Shooting , Shot Put ,Table Tennis, Badminton and Athletic competitions were held. N-5 North Zone won the title of Best Zone by winning 4 gold Medals each while N-5 Central Zone got the runners up
place with 3 gold.
