Navy role has become more important in modern times: Governor

LAHORE, Nov 27 (APP): Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana Sunday said the role of navy for any country in the modern world had become more important than before.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the 6th Chief of the Naval Staff Amateur Golf Championship Trophy held at Royal Palm Golf and Country Course here, the governor congratulated the navy for beating a submarine of India back.
He also congratulated Qamar Javaid Bajwa on his appointment as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), saying that transition of military leadership in a smooth way was a healthy sign for the country.
About the tournament, he appreciated the companies, sponsors,
organisers and management of the club for facilitating and extending all out support for the tournament.
He appreciated the services of Pakistan Navy for promotion of sports in the country besides defending maritime frontiers.
Earlier, the governor gave away awards and trophies to the winners of different categories.
It is pertinent to mention here the 3 day tournament started on Nov 25.
Ghazanfar Mehmood won the trophy with a gross score of 216 by beating his nearest opponent Ashiq Hussain in the final round.
Prominent personalities from civil and forces participated in the concluding ceremony.
