ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (APP):Textile exports witnessed an increase of 5.63 percent during the first quarter the fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the same quarter of last year (2024-25).
The overall textile exports from the country were recorded at $4.774 billion during July-September 2025-26 against the exports of $4.520 billion during July-September 2024-25, a latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said.
The textile commodities that contributed in trade growth included cotton yarn the exports of which increased by 12.22 percent to $182.447million during the period under review as compared to the exports of $162.579 million last year.
The other commodities that witnessed growth in trade included yarn other than cotton yarn the exports of which grew by 6.17 percent to $9.095 million from $8.566 million whereas the export of knitwear rose by 12.21 percent to $1423.800 million from $1268.908 million, it added.
Similarly, the export of bed wear surged by 7.28 percent to $852.867 million from $794.972 million, towels by 1.44 percent to $265.067 million from $261.316 million, tents, canvas, tarpaulin by 37.93 percent to $39.717 million from $28.796 million and readymade garments by 6.07 percent to $1057.287 million from $996.781 million.
The export of art, silk and synthetic textile also rose by 1.62 percent to $98.042 million from $96.482 million, made up article (excluding towels and bedwear) by 8.26 percent to $206.814 million from $191.036 million, and all other textile materials up by 1.58 percent to $190.180 million from $187.224 million.
The textile commodities that witnessed negative growth in trade included cotton cloth, the export of which declined by 14.21 percent from $523.663 million to $449.276 million.
Meanwhile, on Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, the textile exports from the country witnessed a nominal decrease of 1.99 percent during September 2025 as compared to the corresponding month of last year.
The textile exports in September 2025 were recorded $1,572.920 million against the exports of $1604.856 million in September 2024.
On Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, the textile exports however increased by 3.23 percent in September 2025 when compared to the exports of $ 1,523.635 million in August 2025, according to PBS data.
