ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP):National Assembly on Thursday approved four motions to establish committees on finance, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), national security and Kashmir.

The house allowed the Speaker National Assembly to nominate members for the committees as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan moved separate motions at the floor of the house here.

The committee on CPEC would oversee and ensure implementation of the CPEC projects and would suggest measures for speedy completion of the projects. The committee would play its role to build support and consensus for the CPEC projects.

The committee on National Security would be formed by the Speaker in consultation with Chairman Senate and leaders of parliamentary parties. The committee would consider issues related to national security and oversee the implementation of National Action Plan and monitor the transition from military courts to civil courts and the process of legal reforms related to it.

The committee on Kashmir would comprise 24 members. The committee would take up at appropriate forums the issue of human rights violations by Indian army in Indian Occupied Kashmir. It would play its role to create awareness about the Kashmiris’ right to self determination and would help continue moral and political support to the just struggle of Kashmiris.

The committee would work along with other organizations to gain support on Kashmir issue and would also provide guidance and leadership.
The new committees would present periodical reports on the issues that would be sent to them from the National Assembly.The Speaker can make changes in the members of the committee as and when required.
