ISLAMABAD, March 22 (APP):Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said March 23, proved to be a decisive moment in the history as our forefathers under the able leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah decided to shape their own destiny in the form of a separate homeland where each and every one would be free and enjoy equal rights under the law and constitution.
He said this in a message to the nation on the occasion of March 23.
While felicitating all Pakistanis living in Pakistan and overseas, he observed that current times were meaningful in understanding the significance of the day.
“Challenges are enormous and the national integration is facing challenges at the hands of terrorism, extremism, poverty, underdevelopment and a sluggish economy but our zeal and determination is undeterred,” Sadiq Sanjrani said.
He said Pakistan was a peace loving country and “we want a peaceful resolution to all the problems, however, anyone challenging our sovereignty and territorial integrity would be dealt with an iron fist”.
Sanjrani observed that the armed forces of Pakistan had not just defended the motherland and stayed true to their commitment in safeguarding the territorial boundaries of the country but have also invigorated the whole nation with an ever increasing wave of patriotism.
He expressed hope that this day would serve as a new beginning in improving the standard of living in the country of people belonging to all ethnicities and religions.
Senate chairman said the State and every citizen should reaffirm his commitment to promote the principles of unity, faith and discipline in individual and collective lives.
Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla also greeted nation on Pakistan Day and said the whole nation stood by armed forces for the defence of motherland. He called for forging unity in ranks to give a befitting response to the threats being faced at national level.
Leader of the House in the Senate Senator Shibli Faraz and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq also expressed their best wishes. Senator Shibli termed it an important occasion and said our forefathers made a struggle for state where equality and social justice would be the norm and the government was making all out efforts to improve quality of life of a common man through different initiatives. Leader of the Opposition Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq said March23, 1940 was historical moment when our forefathers decided to break the chains of slavery. Millions of people sacrificed their lives for a separate state, he said.
