ISLAMABAD, March 25 (APP):Senate Deputy Chairman Senator Saleem Mandviwalla Monday urged the young political fellows to get more involved in the political process as the future of the country will be determined by them.
He said this while in a meeting with representatives of Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) and members of Young Political Fellowship Programme, a press release Monday said.
Representatives of PILDAT and members of Young Political Fellowship Programme visited the Parliament House and were briefed about the role and functions of the Senate.
The participants were given a comprehensive briefing about the Senate as the balancer of the two Houses of Parliament by giving equal representation to all the federating units.
Senate Deputy Chairman along with the officials from Senate Secretariat explicated upon the complex electoral process of Senate membership, the accountability and oversight function of the Parliament, the role of Senate in money bill and other Parliamentary instruments.
The briefing was followed by an interactive question answer session in which the participants made use of the presence of Senate leadership and took insights into the law making process, work of committees and efficacy of the system.
The visit concluded with a visit to the Gali-e-Dastoor and the Senate Museum.
