Lok Virsa to pay tribute to John Elia on Sunday

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) and Mandwa Film Club would screen classic film “Kaneez” on Saturday at Media Centre, Lok Virsa.
Kaneez is a 1965 Pakistani Urdu black and white film directed by Hassan Tariq and jointly produced by Hassan Tariq and Ali Sufiyan Afaqi.
It casts Waheed Murad, Zeba, Mohammad Ali, Sabiha Khanum, Lehri, Saqi, Adeeb and Talish.
It is a block buster musical family relationship film. Waheed Murad and Zeba played lead roles, while Mohammad Ali played a supporting role in the film.
The film’s music was composed by Khalil Ahmed and the songs were written by Himayat Ali Shair and Agha Hashar Kashmiri. The playback singers were Ahmed Rushdi, Mala, Naseem Begum and Masood Rana.
Its popular songs include: Jab raat dhali, Ghair ki baton ka akhir aitbaar aa hee gaya, and Pyar mein hum aye jaan e tamanna.
