Dowry cheques distributed among 97 couples as Kohat administration reviews Muharram civic arrangements

KOHAT, Jun 15 (APP): The District Zakat Office Kohat on Monday distributed dowry assistance cheques among deserving couples at a ceremony held at the District Council Hall, reaffirming the government’s commitment to social welfare and transparent utilization of Zakat funds.
The event was attended by Provincial Minister for Law Aftab Alam, Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Jan, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir and other officials. During the ceremony, dowry cheques worth Rs200,000 each were distributed among 97 deserving couples from different parts of the district.
Addressing the participants, the speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring transparency in the distribution of Zakat funds and pledged continued support for underprivileged families. They described the initiative as a significant step towards easing the financial burden on deserving households and promoting social welfare.
Separately, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) Naveed Ahmad, accompanied by officials from the Tehsil Municipal Administration, SNGPL, Roads Department and WSSC Bannu, visited Bazar Imambargah, Qomi Imambargah and Markazi Imambargah to review cleanliness, sanitation and civic arrangements ahead of Muharram.
The concerned departments were instructed to ensure effective waste management, uninterrupted utility services and the timely completion of all necessary arrangements to facilitate the public and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
