CM directs elimination of corruption, strengthening public sector institutions

PESHAWAR, Sep 05 (APP):Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Mahmood Khan Wednesday directed efforts to eliminate corruption, discouraging all types of commissions, strengthening public sector institutions and improving
their capacity for ensuring efficient delivery.
He was addressing a cabinet meeting on hundred day plan of PTI government in KP.
Provincial ministers, chief secretary and administrative secretaries attended the meeting.
The cabinet was briefed about initial hundred days plan for improving quality of services, introducing new initiatives and quick dispensation of justice, improving local government system, extension of different departments to newly merged districts of erstwhile FATA and further strengthening of policing in the province.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister said that merger of seven districts of erstwhile FATA had brought along new challenges such as infrastructure development, efficient services and extension of existing institutions to the newly merged districts of the erstwhile FATA and mainstreaming of these new districts besides provision of basic facilities to people of these areas.
He said our efforts would be directed to reform police, quick disposal of cases and amendments in relevant laws.
The CM would head a committee to bring about necessary amendments in relevant law. Inspector General of Police and Secretary Home would be members of the committee and there would be a task force to work on civil service reforms as well.
Mahmood Khan said that merger of new districts of erstwhile FATA should be seen as the stability of federation. A task force at the federal level for mainstreaming the newly seven merged district of erstwhile FATA was already working.
He said that new districts would need infrastructural developmental, education and health services and more importantly a comprehensive developmental plan including the extension of different provincial departments to these areas adding the merger need comprehensive short term, mid-term and long term planning.
He said we are already working to mainstream newly seven merged districts and planning to extend Sehat Insaf Card to the deserving living under the poverty lines.
The already available data would be revisited to target needy and poor, he informed.
He directed minister health to have a meeting with Secretary Health and elected representatives for continuity of Sehat Insaf Card model and expedite provision of Sehat Insaf Card to those deserving and poor who are the card facility.
He said the local government system would be further strengthened to solve problems of people and ensure efficient delivery at local level.
Regarding economic growth strategy, CM directed to focus on technical and professional training of youth for jobs creation.
Tourism, agriculture productivity, industrialization, investment and self-employment through youth entrepreneurship would be the priority.
He said that the province has a lot of potential to be developed on tourism lines directing a comprehensive strategy integrating whole tourism related activities that would become an incubator for resource generation.
CM would head a committee of all relevant departments to remove hindrances and irritants in promotion of tourism.
He hoped that tourism would will be promoted as the mainstay of provincial economy.
Capacity of institutions would be improved and share of the province in CPEC related projects would be secured, he said and maintained that provincial anti-corruption department would be improved even at divisional and districts levels to ensure corruption free Pakistan.
Mahmood Khan also directed for expeditious completion of Rapid Bus Transit (RBT) project Peshawar and Swat Motorway.
He said that departments should decide their hundred day initial plan along with five years comprehensive planning adding the required fiscal space would be created for uniform
development policy in the province.
KP CM also directed progress on Chashma Lift Irrigation schemes taking it up with Planning Commission for early approval and subsequent implementation.
He also directed for water conservation, health and education sectors development, women empowerment and clean water for all.
He also directed to plan green growth KP to overcome environment degradation.
He said that he would review all these decisions fortnightly and would promote collective decision making for the benefit of the people adding that PTI came back to power on the basis of its efficient delivery during its previous tenure.
He hoped that all departments would work round the clock on this agenda for real change.
